The Lord Knows How
Back in Sept 2021, 26-year-old Army veteran Eugene Bozzi was notified by his children that an alligator had wandered onto their property, so he went outside to investigate. What he found was a 5-foot alligator and his immediate response was to protect his kids and the other children outside. Fortunately, Bozzi not only knew he needed to act to protect his kids; he had a plan for dealing with the danger. And when it was all said and done, Bozzi captured the gator and took it to a nearby waterway and released it. In other words, Eugene Bozzi had the know-how to rescue his kids from danger and I suspect his kids trusted in their dad’s know-how. In the same way, and on a much grander scale, we should trust in our heavenly Father’s know-how to protect His children and deal with the threats to our wellbeing, even when the situation seems impossible. And in this 2nd Peter passage, we learn that the Lord has a proven track record for doing this in matters great and small and in between. And if that’s so, then we ought to trust Him with the threats to our well-being, not unlike how Eugene Bozzi’s kids trusted their dad. They understood the danger and turned to their dad to protect them. As Christians, the threat to our spiritual wellbeing isn’t alligators or any such thing. It’s a different kind of monster who is skilled at appearing as anything but a monster. But do we as Christians truly understand the danger we face from our clever and subtle enemy and those who follow his ways?
