The Greeter Ministry at Leptondale Bible Church

This very public church ministry is made up of Leptondale Bible Church members, who every Sunday morning desire to genuinely greet first-time visitors as well as our church members and regular church attendees to our Sunday service. You will find a greeter at each of the two entrances to our building, the church foyer and the welcome table in the Fellowship Hall downstairs.

Our heartfelt goals are to make first-time visitors comfortable and to show them they are welcome here at Leptondale Bible Church. We greet everyone with a warm smile and a friendly greeting. We have the opportunity to answer any questions they may have and to thank them for attending our worship service. Each visitor receives a small gift bag and as a follow up, is mailed a note card. These handwritten welcome cards let them know their visit was a blessing to us and that we hope it was also a blessing to them. Many return visitors have remarked that these two loving gestures have meant a great deal to them.

Our team of greeters is always gracious, friendly and helpful whenever we encounter someone new. We all enjoy being that first smile somebody sees upon entering our building. We want them to know that they are important in God’s eyes. What a privilege it is for us to serve the Lord with such gladness in our hearts!

We strive to assure visitors that their time with us at Leptondale Bible Church matters to our church and we encourage them to return and worship God with us.

GriefShare Ministry

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

In January of 2022, Leptondale Bible Church began a GriefShare Ministry. GriefShare is a 13-week Grief Support group that we hold twice a year. We offer both an in-person/virtual hybrid program, so anyone can join us from anywhere. Our winter session begins in February, on Saturday mornings and runs through early June. We begin our fall session in August on Sunday afternoons. The sessions are 2 hours long.

The program is set up like a 3-legged stool, with each area supporting the other. One leg of the stool is a video on Grief that is supported by professional counselors on grief as well as regular everyday people who are on their own grief journey. The 2nd leg of our stool would be our discussion time together. And the 3rd leg would be the Participant Guide that contains 5 days of short exercises to work on, these exercises pertain to the video the participants have just viewed. Each leg, equally importantand without one the stool would be unsteady.

We also offer a one-day seminar called – Surviving the Holidays on a Sunday afternoon in November. It is a 2-hour seminar that gives coping tools to those grieving as they face the holiday season without their loved one.

GriefShare is a faith-based ministry and is open to anyone that is grieving the loss of someone they loved. If you are interested in this program for yourself or someone you may know, you can go to www.griefshare.org and find Leptondale Bible Church’s program or a GriefShare program that best fits your schedule. You can also contact our lead facilitator – Jan Toth at 914-213-9034 or email her at janettoth@gmail.com for more information.

Community Outreach Ministry

At the heart of our Community Outreach Ministries is our desire to show the love of God and spread the Good News of Jesus to our community.

We truly desire to not only be the hands and feet of Jesus, but we seek to build meaningful relationships with those in our community who have not yet come to know Jesus as their Savior and to invite them into our fellowship so they can come to know and love Jesus as we do.

Our outreach events also allow us to invite those who are longing for a church home to find their place in the intimate family of believers who call Leptondale Bible Church “home.”

We have a two-fold approach to our Community Outreach Ministry:

Going Out

We believe reaching our community requires us to move beyond our own walls to engage the community where they are. To do this we go out into our community and purposefully engage with our neighbors at local events such as Community Days and National Night Out events, as well as participating with other local ministries to share the Gospel, and help meet the physical needs of those within our community who are experiencing homelessness.

Inviting In

We also believe it is good to extend an invitation to our community and welcome them into our church, the building we call “home.” We off several free events throughout the year. These events enable our neighbors to see who we are as followers of Jesus. As our guests have attended our Fall Festivals filled with food, games, prizes, and plenty of fun, our Thanksgiving Meals providing a full traditional Thanksgiving meal and warm fellowship, or our Food Distributions and Movie Nights, they have moved from being the “community” to becoming friends and LBC family.

The body of believers at Leptondale love their community and seek to reach and serve them by putting their gifts and talents to use and pouring their time and hearts into every outreach opportunity. What a joy and privilege it is. From the youngest to the oldest, it’s all about impacting our community by being the hands and feet of Jesus.
