Walk in the Light of the Lord

Four-year-old Dylan Stitch was highly reluctant to dive off the diving board in the family pool. Efforts to coax him were fruitless until the family held a pool party and a neighbor, 95-year-old Daniel Biss, saw Dylan and heard everyone trying to coax him off the board, and in that moment, 95-year-old Daniel Biss knew exactly what Dylan needed. With a borrowed swimsuit and his cane, Daniel stepped up to set the example for Dylan, stepping on to a diving board for the first time in 50 years! What an improbable example for young Dylan to follow! And while everyone at the party held their breath, Daniel Biss dove for Dylan, and shortly thereafter, Dylan took his first dive. Improbable examples have great power to spur others on in following their example and one can’t help but think that Isaiah had this principle in mind as he shared the message of the Lord in Isaiah 2:1-5. From the day the Lord called Israel to live in covenant relationship with Him, the Lord sought to lead Israel to Walk in the Light of the Lord, yet His people failed to do so, going their own way instead. So, what could possibly spur Israel to repent of their rebellion and follow the Lord rather than their own ways? Perhaps the power of an improbable example! Maybe even a shocking example!

We invite you to come join us this Sunday morning for our in-person worship service at Leptondale Bible Church in Newburgh, starting at 10:55 AM. For those unable to attend, our service can be viewed live on the church’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/leptondalebiblechurch. This Sunday, we’ll continue a series from Isaiah titled “In That Day: The Kingdom in Isaiah.” This Sunday’s message from Isaiah 2:1-5 is titled “Walk in the Light of the Lord.”

God bless!
