Be the people God chooses
Most people have children in the hope that they will grow up and do things that make us proud. We love to brag on the accomplishments of our kids and grandkids, and I’m no exception to the practice! But there are very rare and special kinds of parents who choose to have kids who may never accomplish anything like what we tend to brag about: parents who adopt special-needs children. I read of one couple who adopted three special-needs children from India. A girl who had polio in one leg and couldn’t walk, another girl who needed surgery for a cleft palate, and the younger brother who needs blood transfusions every three weeks. Parents like these make a choice to love and adopt these kinds of kids knowing the lifelong burden they take on in doing so. Another way to put it is parents like these make a choice to both love and seek those whom the world rejects, and in their eyes, the identity of their kids is rooted not in what they may accomplish someday, but in the fact that they are loved. Did you know that if Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior, then you are just like these special needs kids? And are you interested in discovering how and why this is true?
We invite you to come join us this Sunday morning for our in-person worship service at Leptondale Bible Church in Newburgh, starting at 10:55 AM. For those unable to attend, our service can be viewed live on the church’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/leptondalebiblechurch. This Sunday, we’ll continue a new sermon series from 1st Corinthians titled “Written for Our Instruction” with a message from 1st Corinthians 1:18-31 titled “Be the People God Chooses.”
God bless!
